I studied at the Newark School of Violin Making. My work since then as a restorer and maker has taken me to Canada, Finland and Germany, and I've worked on and handled many instruments by Italian and French masters. This has given me a great insight into the classical period of violin making, which is where I still get a lot of inspiration. As well as making new violins, I also make copies of 17th century Italian instruments to order. It's certainly a challenge to copy an old master, and re-create every little mark and scratch using the information I have gathered throughout my professional years.
